Ford Transits are up there with our most tuned vehicles!

Why might you ask? Well they are an interesting van and leaving manufacturer with 3 power variants 100Bhp 125Bhp and 155Bhp.

Fitted with bigger parts for more power? NOPE in fact these come with ALL exactly the same mechanical setup meaning all are capable of the same power and torque.

in this case ALL tuning to 180Bhp at stage 1!

Golf GTI and R Variants are all highly tunable! And we really have got tuning these down to a fine art including DSG tuning for those fitted with the impressive DSG Box allowing for raised limiters, improvements in shifting points and modifications like launch control.

The GTI above for example with the manual gearbox we can elevate stock power from 230Bhp to 300Bhp entering the 300 club and just shy of the R stock mark! although with a small positive difference in torque over a stock R.

This is not only where the bulk of the early days of AutoTune Performance were spent, but also the highest volume of engine tunes are in this specific grouping!

Incorporating my ALL time personal favorite engine the VAG ASZ engine notably installed in the Golf Mk4 PD130!

Of which we see 130Bhp - 185Bhp all day every day in a reliable punchy and safe tune that transforms the performance and gives a taste of what is possible.

We have and continue with modifications run these engines to over 300Bhp and in some cases including my own personal vhicles have hit 400 mark!

Next up is an example of factory DETUNING. 

the 2015 116d for example has a hugely disappointing power level and for a 2 litre engine is a real tragedy. Stock power is 116Bhp or there and thereabouts. Stage 1 Performance tuning ONLY with no modifications necessary we hit in and around 190Bhp! Torque gain being stratospheric also 260Nm (Stock) to 400Nm when tuned!

I would say tortoise and hare but more accurate is slug and ballistic missile where the initial spew worthy sluggishness is transformed to something akin to being strapped to a rocket!

Real world performance gains are felt by bums being pinned to seats and a good measure of change are the 0-60 times BEFORE and AFTER tuning.

Seconds being shaved in almost all cases makes for a thoroughly different drive post remap.

Prime example of detuning is the 2016 -> 2020 VW Caddy 2.0 Tdi Common Rail powerplant, seems weird calling the 75Bhp setup a POWER plant. 75Bhp is an attempt at lowering emissions I can only imagine and to create a basic, intermediate and sporty pricing structure! 

ALAS buy cheaper model and TUNE! 

In this case it is one of the LARGEST percentage changes seen globally with a mouth watering 180Bhp at stage 1 and an extra 125Nm of torque delivering a sharp and wild mini van that can really motor!

Stage 1 Performance tuning will achieve 180Bhp but we have fully customised options available for those who are less daring including ECO versions (Yawn) and Power ECO blends which are also a good choice allowing for a small increase in mpg (driving style dependant and designed for part throttle driving) and respectable power levels in and around 140Bhp with around 80Nm of torque!
